The panel blocks are something usual for communist countries and became the symbol of the Soviet Union itself. As most of the buildings are dull and square and it isn’t something an architect can be proud of. But this man called Evgeny Stamo really wanted to make the project more “curvy”.

The idea is part of the utopic society and these buildings stay that way: only an utopia: a project that never happen full but deserved to be mentioned.
It was suppose to be in Moscow the capital of Soviet Union at a time and the present capital of Russia. The project include about 150 meters as an enormous ring and at the center is a green space with a small football yard so the children can have their place to sport and elders to take walk near their own home. Just like a small village, and the apartments could have been home for a whole village even a bigger one. Only one structure is supposed to be a home for 900 apartments including all the needed shops and a pharmacy, a real neighborhood in a circle.

The project was approved in 1972 and as the Olympic Games were in 1980 in Moscow the plan was to build five round buildings as symbols of the five circles of the Olympics. However, during the preparation the second circle was delayed in 1979 and it became clear that the ring blocks won’t happen in time. The chosen place was distant and the visitors wouldn’t be able to see the rings.

Although there are the two rings which are still home for many. Not without some obstacles. An address to be found is really hard and the construction is very cold; the isolation is not good and many other mistakes occurred at times.
However, it’s such an interesting building that is a good to see.
