A river house

It is really hard to build a house in the distant terrain, but there are good sides too. One of them is that you can have the space you want and you can enjoy the beautiful nature in here without a hint of the rest of the civilization.

This dream house of solitude is located in a meandering river and this is why the architects gave her the name “River house” the idea of Syama Peterson Deguchi was to be envisioned as a part of the nature and it embraced all the natural elements. If you approach the house from outside it seemed small because the place is so spacious and nature so impressive but going inside the house is so big that you can start counting how many people you can invite and still it will be room for one more, or two.

The house is located in Rocky Mountains, USA. It was designed for a villa of a retired couple. But don’t think it was an easy task to build such a comfortable house in such a wild terrain. The weather conditions are complex so the palette of the chosen material is chosen to ensure durability of the house. That is the reason why there is a concrete wall on the north side so that there it is a structural backbone for the whole composition. The other elements are located on or below grade or under the sheltering roof to protect the house from the harsh environment which surrounded the house. Concrete was chosen as dominant material so the house can provide all these glass walls and windows and all the spacious rooms which give view of the nature. Imagine what is it to see the raging snow storm and be cozily sitting near the fireplace. But safety goes first. It’s really a dream house for your Christmas vocation.
